All variations identified in ARFGEF1patients so far seem to be responsible for an haploinsufficiency effect.
All known pathogenic variations are point mutations, and may be loss-of-function variants, splice or missense variants.
Diagnostic testing thus requires sequencing of the ARFGEF1gene, usually done through an NGS technique such as exome or genome sequencing.
