LAMC3-related disorder is a very rare genetic condition that affects how the brain develops before birth. It is mainly linked to differences in the folding of the brain surface, especially in the back part of the brain, called the occipital lobes. These brain changes may cause seizures, developmental delay, learning difficulties, vision-related symptoms, or behavioral difficulties. The condition is usually inherited in an autosomal recessive way, meaning that a child is affected when both copies of the LAMC3gene have a disease-causing change, one inherited from each parent. Parents are usually healthy carriers.
