Variants in LMNB2are inherited in an autosomal recessive or autosomal dominant manner.
To date, for families reported with recessive mutations the same variant has been present in both copies of the gene although inheritance of two different mutations in the same patient is possible. The recurrence risk for future pregnancies is considered relatively high (25%).
To date, almost all dominant variants have resulted from a de novo mutation. Thus, the affected individuals represent sporadic cases, i.e., a single occurrence in a family. The recurrence risk for future pregnancies is considered low (probably <1%).
