There is currently no cure for OCLN-related disorder. However, many treatments and types of support can help manage symptoms and improve your child's comfort and quality of life.
Key areas of care:
• Seizure control:Regular follow-up with your child's neurologist; medication doses and combinations are often adjusted over time
• Kidney monitoring:Periodic blood/urine tests and kidney ultrasound, even if your child seems well
• Watching for excessive thirst or urination:Can be a sign of diabetes insipidus and should be reported to your child's doctor
• Growth and feeding support:Some children need extra feeding support, including a feeding tube in some cases
• Infection prevention: Prompt attention to fevers or illness, and staying up to date with vaccinations.
Early and ongoing involvement of a multidisciplinary team gives your child the best chance of comfortable, well-supported care.
