Management

How is care organised?
Care is planned around your child's individual needs. Developmental therapies and adjustments at school can support communication, movement, learning and everyday independence. Discuss feeding, sleep or behaviour concerns with your usual care team.

These are practical supportive measures. There is no tested treatment programme specific to PRPF8.

What eye checks are needed?
An eye specialist can check vision and advise whether regular retinal follow-up is appropriate. Tell the specialist about any difficulty seeing at night or any change in side vision.

The eye assessment can also check whether glasses are needed, whether the eyes are aligned, and whether the optic nerves or the pressure inside the eye need further assessment. A reported link with glaucoma does not mean that your child will develop glaucoma.

What should we do with the genetic report?
Keep a copy of the genetic report and review it with your genetics team when new information becomes available. Ask your team which checks are appropriate for your child. There is no single PRPF8check-up schedule that suits everyone.
