Disease causing TAF2mutations are biallelic. One mutation is carried by the DNA copy inherited from the mother and the other one is carried by the DNA copy inherited from the father.
Known mutations are missenses, meaning that the protein is still present but with an altered structure.
The pathophysiologic mechanism is currently unknown.
