TBL1Xgene defects primarily affect boys. Girls may have slightly lower thyroid hormone values. In some male patients mildly reduced hearing was reported.
Thyroid hormone is essential for normal growth, psychomotor development and metabolism. If left untreated central hypothyroidism may lead to poor growth, developmental delay and slow metabolism.
