Management

Management is supportive and symptomatic, similarly to other motor neuron diseases. Preferably care should be administered by a multidisciplinary team that includes neurologists, physiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, and physical and occupational therapists.

Symptomatic care includes orthotic and walking aids, e.g. splints, appropriate shoes or canes, as well as pain medication in cases of neuropathic pain.
