Clinical Characteristics

The main features can vary from person to person. Some individuals have seizures, which may start in childhood or later and may be mild or difficult to control. Some people have developmental delay or learning difficulties, while others may have milder problems. Because the occipital lobes are often involved, some individuals may have visual symptoms or seizures with visual changes. Brain MRI usually shows differences in brain folding, such as too many small folds or unusually broad folds. In some people, the brain changes may also involve areas outside the occipital lobes.
